Priorities

Updating of blogs has been pushed pretty low on the priority list lately. In fact, it's just above looking for a skirt and a button down shirt, which I'll need for gym classes, as Ms. J is going to teach us how to strip these off...I haven't found something yet, as I didn't have time to look, but I will. I have no intention of missing the FREE refreshments to be served after class. But now have the "whatever will I wear" dilemma to go to the gym. LOL!

Anyways, in the absence of anything interesting of a positive nature, aka...it's been a slow news week, here's a Dr Phil Test. Since meeting up with a bunch of my high school friends, and exchanging email addresses, I've discovered that they are the types circulate every joke/gag/pictures/quizzes, etc.

Here's the test, and I got a 46.

(Dr. Phil scored 55; he did this test on Oprah - she got a 38. Some folks pay a lot of money to find this stuff out! Read on, this is very interesting! Don 't be overly sensitive! Thefollowing is pretty accurate and it only takes 2 minutes. Take this test for yourself .
Don 't peek, but begin the test as you scroll down and answer. Answers are for who you are now --- not who you were in the past. Have pen or pencil and paper ready. 10. (a) 4 (b) 2 (c) 3 (d) 5 (e) 6 (f) 1

Now add up the total number of points.

OVER 60 POINTS : Others see you as someone they should "handle with care." You're seen as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

51 TO 60 POINTS : Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome, someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the excitement you radiate.

41 TO 50 POINTS : Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.

31 TO 40 POINTS : Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return. Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get over if that trust is ever broken.

21 TO 30 POINTS: Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then, usually decide against it. They think this reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

UNDER 21 POINTS : People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions & who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some people think you're boring. Only those who know you well know that you aren't.

Just Five Minutes

Further to the previous blog, I have not yet performed the Feng Shui cleansing...like I've got time for it or anything else.

It was one hell of a week at work, with one meeting after another, and one bullshit crisis after another, to the point that nothing of my own stuff got done. The hell of week continued on this morning, as I went in to work to try to get caught up, and will likely have to do so for the next who knows how many weekends.

From there, I had to rush home, to help Steph do her English and Religion essays, for about 3 hours...English only, as she did Religion on her own. Before settling at home however, I had to drop eggs off at my mother's, as while Libbey had offerred to do so, before she went on her merry way, my mother insisted that no, I could do so on my way home from work. During said homework, mother calls twice....in 3 hours, and when I finally call her to say I'll go pick her up, response is well it's about time.

From there, it's make dinner, clean up, answer the odd question from Steph about her homework, answer the many questions about what's going in the stupid movie we're watching- The New World...I don't know what's going on, I haven't seen the movie before, plus everyone seems to be mumbling with a British accent and/or speaking Indian with no subtitles, and the music is too loud. In between, I am fortunate to be able to wash my hair. No laundry, no vacuuming, no grocery shopping, nothing, got done today.

They finally clear out at about 11:30 when the movie ends, and as I look out the window, I notice that the asshole neighbours have placed their trash bin and garbage bags on my lawn for the pick up day which is two days away. I resist the temptation to go and throw everything in their driveway.

After all this, I think maybe I can get a few minutes of downtime at the computer, only to hear...don't you think it's late and maybe you should go to bed because you're so tired? No thanks...I'm not tired, I just need five minutes of peace to myself. Is it too much to ask?

My patience has been slowly leaving me, and I hate to admit it but it's gone totally awol for the past few days.

So here's my five minutes of peace to myself...spent venting....

Electrical Issues

Lately, I've had unusally bad luck with electrical appliances and light bulbs.

Got a new TV a few weeks ago, and can no longer change the volume or any settings, and it keeps flashing me a secret code of twenty blinks...not even Panasonic knows what twenty blinks means. So a new one is on its way on Saturday. Fingers crossed and somewhat apprehensive.

Got an electrical tea steeper for Christmas...plugged it in, and it didn't work...just didn't want to heat up or make tea...back it went.

Satellite receiver keeps asking me for a password at a spot where there shouldn't be one.

Light bulbs have been burning out like mad.

I seemed to recall reading something about electrical issues and their meaning in feng shui, (which my friend has been practicing with success) so I looked it up tonight and here's what I found:

Feng Shui Tips

If health issues are the source of your stress:

Evaluate the center part of your home (Refer to the Bagua)
Evaluate the plumbing, electrical and heating/cooling elements of your home and fix any problems.
Plumbing problems are associated with digestive problems
Electrical problems correspond with the bodies neurological system
Heating/cooling system problems represent breathing/lung problems

Funny isn't it...a big source of my stress are neurological health issues, not mine but my mother's, and lately the health issues have been getting worse again, instead of better.

Seems like the house is picking up on the negative energy, and I need to cleanse it, as follows. The other big source of my stress is my work environment, and the escalating pettiness that goes on there. I was especially drawn to number 6, and its description of work environment as a possible source of negative energy carry forward.

I think I'll try this cleansing ritual, and also buy myself a rooster statue for my office. Supposedly, it will ward off pettiness and backstabbing, or if all else fails, I can throw it at them. Serenity NOW!

STEP 1. Clear stale energies from the house.

If you have recently moved, you might be feeling some of the residual energy from past residents. If that's your case, then consider using this technique: open everything that is closed. In short, you should open all doors, all windows, all cabinets, all boxes, anything that is closed should be open.

Then, walking from the front door and in a clockwise pattern, circle each room and go into the next while ringing a bell. Be sure to ring the bell in the corners of rooms and in closets where negative energy can remain trapped. You may want to proceed through the other five steps before closing everything up again.

STEP 2. Use salt to cleanse an area.

Another tip is to use salt to remove negative energies. You can wipe the walls with salt or sprinklel salt into the corners of the room. Be sure to sweep up the salt and throw it into the trash outside of your house.

STEP 3. Feed your ghosts rice.

If you feel extreme negative energy, you can also try sprinkling rice around the perimeter of your home beginning at the front door and walking in a clockwise fashion until you come to the door again. The rice will draw the energy outside and away from the interior of your home.

STEP 4. Scent the air to rid negative energies.

Smoke from incense or from herbs such as lavender for transcending problems or eucalyptus for healing or mint for prosperity. The scents of incense or herbal essential oils are all excellent ways to introduct beneficial energy.

STEP 5. Light and sound.

Light and sound are two very effective "yang" treatments that help to dispel negative energies. Tinkling windchimes and bright crystal rainbows or lit chandeliers are both excellent ways to introduce beneficial -- and cleansing -- energy to your space.

If you have done all five steps, it's time to close up all the doors, windows, cabinets, and drawers, and then proceed to Step 6.

STEP 6. Take a salt bath for yourself.

In the process of cleansing your home, it might also be a good idea to cleanse yourself as well. It is possible that you are bringing negative energy home from work or from the outside world. Soak in a tub with sea salt or make your own sea salt scrub and wash your body in the shower with salt. Salt will purify you and remove negative energies from your body. This is especially helpful if you work in a hostile or gossipy environment and will help you rid the energy from your body

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Spent the night at home for New Year's Eve, which over the years I've found to be preferable to the forced merriment of organized outings. Made a nice dinner of prime rib, yams, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad. My friend & daughter came over to spend the evening with us.

She brought over some chestnuts, and I had bought some as well, so I ended up roasting a double batch...Chestnuts Roasting in a Closed Oven. (to the music of Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)

Here's the open fire....courtesy of the Fire Log Channel on TV. Not suitable for chestnuts. LoL!

As we sat around peeling them, I stumbled across this one which I called the Moses chestnut, and yes, everyone did think I was nuts!

I should try to sell it on e-bay...if someone will buy a Jesus peroghi, why not a Moses chestnut???

Somehow, Steph decided this one looked like her mother.
Frankly, I don't see it, but then she didn't see Moses in mine.

Anyways, it was an almost quiet night, except for the laughter, and the noisemakers at midnight.

Speaking of which, one of my pet peeves is the fact that the local TV stations, flip to local coverage around midnight. I don't want to see coverage of midnight in Niagara Falls, Toronto, or Buffalo...I want to see the New York Times Square Waterford Crystal (or whatever it's made of now) Ball dropping.

This is an ongoing saga and continues to be a source of entertainment at my expense and rolling of the eyes of guests, as I go through in search of TV listings to make sure I can find NY coverage, and get totally pissed off when I find it, only to have them switch to the ball drop in Buffalo, which has happened more than once. Lo and behold, last night I was happy to see they smartened up, and had a split screen with Times Square on one side and First Night Buffalo on the other (which I ignored.) See, it doesn't take much to amuse me or make me happy.

Happy New Year...may it bring peace, health and prosperity and much laughter!
